Tulsa, Okla. - T.D. Williamson, Inc. has introduced a new high temperature plugging service that complies with the demanding "best practice" requirements of the hydrocarbon processing industries. With industry experts providing input and guidance throughout the design and development process, TDW engineers have developed a patent-pending innovation which provides a unique metal-to-metal seal, permitting "no-leak" line plugging in environments with extreme temperature and pressure.
The FinalSTOPP® plugging system achieves true "double block and bleed" functionality by sealing both upstream and downstream from the fitting, thus permitting pressure inside the fitting to be bled out. In contrast to current technology, the FinalSTOPP seal is obtained in a cavity around the pipe OD on fabricated and precision-machined surfaces. This approach circumvents the problems that arise by trying to achieve a seal on the irregular surfaces of the pipe ID.
Sealing both upstream and downstream provides improved safety to personnel working downstream of the fitting. While work is underway, pressure inside the
fitting can be monitored to assure that the upstream seal is holding, knowing that in the unlikely event of a leak, the downstream seal will still protect personnel working on the line. |

Complementing the metal-to-metal sealing plugging tool is a metal-to-metal sealing completion plug that permits recovery of the gate valve used during the tapping and plugging operation.
A specially designed hydraulic cylinder is used to set both the plugging tool and completion plug. The FinalSTOPP plugging machine joins the TDW high temperature tapping machine, already in service at the same pressure and temperature ratings.
