Purchase expands TDW's pipeline integrity focus
Tulsa, Okla. - Effective immediately, T.D. Williamson, Inc (TDW), a leading pipeline and piping maintenance company serving the worldwide energy and petrochemical industries for more than 80 years, announces the acquisition of Salt Lake City-based MAGPIE Systems, Inc.
MAGPIE, a five-year-old pipeline Inline Inspection (ILI) company, has established itself as an innovative, cost-effective, responsive and highly reliable ILI service provider. The company has a growing range of high-resolution Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) inspection tools 4-inches and higher, supported by its user-friendly, Windows-based, PIGTRAP(TM) anomaly analysis and characterization software, as well as a state-of-the-art pipeline Above Ground Marker (AGM) system.
"MAGPIE's ILI service will become a core technology of our rapidly growing capabilities in providing Pipeline Integrity related products and services and MAGPIE is an important component of TDW's overall growth strategy," TDW President and COO, Pete Samoff, said.
MAGPIE complements TDW's newly formed Pipeline Integrity Products and Services division, lead by Jon Major, which provides a portfolio of value-added Pipeline Integrity services such as specialized pig products, cleaning (mechanical and chemical) and geometry inspection services, pigability assessment, and pig trap rental and installation.
"MAGPIE's continued success and growing acceptance with their 'Smart and Simple' approach to business, clearly demonstrates that customers want ILI basics - reliable, easy-to-use technology, responsive customer service, and fair pricing, which we at TDW will continue," Major said.
With a combined 25 years of industry experience in MFL technology, MAGPIE principles, Ken Maxfield and Bill Veach, will continue to lead the Utah-based operation and help steer its expansion as facilitated by TDW's worldwide pipeline service operations.
"This union is a good fit for MAGPIE and will allow us to bring to bear our new technologies and gets us access to markets we wouldn't have considered this soon in our evolution," Maxfield said.
