Description:
This combined saddle fitting and valve is used for making a tie-in of a smaller distribution line to a main. The saddle fitting is electro-fused to the main and the main is tapped through the PE valve. The branch line is then fused to the valve and placed in service. This eliminates the need to:
- Squeeze the line, thereby weakening it (two squeezes and a bypass if the main is to be kept in service).
- Cutting out a section of line to insert an in-line tee.
- Cutting out and replacing the squeezed points.
- Re-lighting of numerous pilot lights.
- The job is completed with a much smaller excavation.
The PE Fitting and valve combo is available in 8 x 4, 6 x 4 and 4 x 4 inch sizes.
The main is tapped with the PS2000XL drilling machine, designed by our European division exclusively for PE pipe. This machine is relatively new to this country but has been used in Europe for over a decade. A T-101 XL series drilling machine can also be used.
