Manufacturing Engineer - Salt Lake City


TDW MAGIPIE® is a TDW company specializing in Magnetic Pipeline Inspection Systems for the Petroleum industry. We are experiencing growth in both our domestic and global operations. As a growing company TDW, MAGPIE is seeking energetic and experienced professionals for the following position:

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs varied tasks under supervision including, but not limited to, work measurement for the establishment of standards, using industry accepted techniques such as (MTM) Methods-Time-Measurement, and (BMT) Basic Motion Time Study, programming of all numerical controlled machines, new manufacturing technology study for cost and productivity improvements.

Accountabilities:

  • Analyzes processes for improvement in quality and productivity.  Runs audit studies after improvement to ensure that expected results are realized.  Analyzes various labor and work measurement reports to discover problem areas which can then be investigated for proper solutions.
  • Assists in determination of proper methods or improvements to the existing methods used in TDW'S manufacturing processes, using appropriate work measurement techniques, ensuring improved methods which reduce the time required to produce a part and/or the quality of the process used to produce the part.
  • Analyzes data accumulated from time studies and methods studies for for possible cost reductions.  Writes comprehensive reports recommending methods or procedural changes to improve productivity and reduce cost.
  • Evaluates, analyzes, justifies, and recommends manufacturing technology, machinery, equipment, tooling, fixtures, and facility changes for improved manufacturing processes, manufacturing quality, techniques and cost effectiveness, ensuring a product of the highest quality at the lowest cost, and ensuring processes of the highest quality and value.
  • Assists in various areas such as cost estimates, programming of NC machines, generates and modifies routings, etc.  Works with Shop personnel to solve production and/or quality problems as they arise.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS

Reports to the Manager, Production.  Works closely with other production and engineering staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering.
  • One to three years experience in methods and time study techniques.
  • Experience in machining and heavy fabrication industry.
  • Good technical writing skills very desirable.
