Williamson, Inc. (TDW) recently announced the acquisition of Dublin, Ireland-based The Better Plug Company, Limited (BPC). BPC has developed an autonomous plugging pig, an isolation technology which is rapidly being adopted by offshore pipeline owners and operators. Autonomous plugging pigs are used when repairs are needed for leaking valves or damaged subsea pipelines or risers. In addition, plugging pig technology is used during offshore pipe laying projects or when offshore platforms/pipelines must be abandoned or tied in to existing systems. This technology will further strengthen TDW's position in the offshore maintenance marketplace. BPC principal and co-founder, Ciaran Early, has more than 20 years experience in the offshore marketplace prior to forming BPC and will remain with the company. "This acquisition allows TDW to become an immediate participant in the offshore autonomous pipeline plugging pig market," TDW President and COO, Pete Samoff, said. "BPC complements the existing and growing portfolio of services that TDW brings to the offshore marketplace." The company will remain headquartered in Dublin and perform its line isolation services from TDW's satellite operations strategically located around the world. Additional information on the features of TDW's new isolation tool will appear in the next issue of Global Solutions. Top of the Line Corrosion Control - TDW's V-Jet™ Pig _______________________________________________________________________________ T.D. Williamson, Inc. continually seeks new products and services to assist you with all your pipeline integrity needs. The latest addition is TDW's V-Jet™ Pig. Corrosion on the inside top portion of gas pipelines is a problem because this rarely receives an adequate coating of corrosion inhibitors. Gravity forces inhibitor fluid to settle on the bottom of pipelines. With the development of the TDW V-Jet Pig, inhibitor fluid left on the bottom of the pipeline from the usual injection process can be delivered directly to the upper quadrant of the line. Mounted to the front of a specialized pig configuration designed with counterweights to maintain its orientation, the V-Jet Pig utilizes bypass flow as an accelerant and literally sucks the inhibitor fluid off the bottom and sprays it on the top quadrant of the pipeline. The V-Jet Pig features a reservoir where fluid is stored for areas of the pipeline where fluid drains away. This ensures your entire pipeline receives corrosion inhibitors. TDW's V-Jet Pig is the latest tool for improving the effectiveness with your pipeline maintenance needs. V-Jet Pig saves you time and money. -The V-Jet Pig emphasizes safe and easy-to-use launching and receiving techniques. -TDW's V-Jet Pig eliminates the need for frequent inhibitor batching. -The V-Jet Pig makes long runs efficiently and effectively. -With sturdy and reliable construction, the V-Jet Pig is designed to withstand tough use. -The spray head applies corrosion inhibitor fluid to the top quadrant of the pipeline. -The V-Jet Pig is designed to as its own reservoir in the event it should pass through a section of pipe void of corrosion inhibitor fluid, such as an incline or decline in elevation. -The TDW V-Jet Pig can be used as the front and/or rear pig in a batching process for a complete 360 degree inhibitor fluid saturation.
