The planned Nivelles Training Center (NTC) began construction in December 2004 and will be completed by March 2005. The NTC will be a 2,840 square feet/ 264 square meter facility. The Nivelles Training Center will feature a dedicated training lab, complete with overhead crane, where students will gain "hands-on" experience assembling and operating TDW pipeline maintenance equipment, and a theatre-style classroom with advanced multi-media tools. In 1999, T.D. Williamson identified an industry-wide need for a state-of-the-art Training Center for pipeline maintenance technicians. Under the direction of TDW Training Director Richard Ryan, a significant dollar commitment was made to construct the A.B. Steen Technology Center in Tulsa. Today, an equally scaled project is in the making for TDW, S.A. in Nivelles, Belgium. 2002 Tulsa Training Center Opening As in the United States, pipeliners in Europe, Africa and the Mid East, the regions served by TDW, S.A., are subject to increasingly stringent regulations that require sophisticated, formal training for technicians and operators. The TDW SA (Nivelles) training center is designed to meet customer requests and has a commitment to expertise, commitment to long term technical education and understanding of regulations. Nivelles has long been the training site for TDW's EAM customers. This will be the first dedicated training facility in the Nivelles plant. At the right, a workman puts the finishing toucheson the lab portion of the training center. Here, students will get hands-on instructor training on TDW equipment. When catering to trainees whose countries can range from Albania to Zaire, there are cultural issues to consider such as language and religious practices that affect trainees meals and scheduling. The NTC planning team, led by Anne Roberfroid, intends to meet the language challenge with the addition of an interpreters' booth in the Training Center as required. Special dietary requirements will also be met. Upon completion, the new Nivelles Training Center will represent one more example of how T.D.
